    That’s beautiful, A.H.! Really, at an enormous event such as this, you and the people immediately surrounding you become your own event. Mr. Polly and I went to the peace marches and anti-Prop 8 demos here in NYC, never got near the main speakers, but had a deeply satisfying experience nevertheless. The sight of the crowd filling the Mall, the sound of them cheering (and booing), was amazing. I’d trade the experience of being frozen, tired, jostled, and having little view just for the joy of having been there. And you can always catch what you miss on YouTube. O brave new YouTube world.

    Thanks Mrs. Polly! You’re absolutely right, this isn’t an experience I would pass up for anything. Even warmth and a tv set. I feel bad for the folks who went through everything I did, and didn’t even get in.
