TPM Reader KT:

If one were so inclined, couldn’t one take the combination of (a) Palin’s statement about the relationship between G-d and her possible Senate career and (b) Stevens’ almost immediate (miraculous?) drop into a position where he now trails Begich, as proof that of divine intervention?

This, of course, refers to hints that Sarah Palin had been dropping about God opening a door for her, and an obvious desire to become a national figure in the Republican party. Two plus two in this case means that she would consider appointing herself to the Senate if Stevens won.

I really don’t know what to make out of Sarah Palin. From the Jane Mayers article about the VP selection I gathered that both the fundamentalist and neocon parts of the Republican base liked her. And there is a style, of which Bush is the prime example, of getting a chuckle out of poking the other party in the eye. I see Palin fitting in quite well in this respect.
