Waiter, There’s a Contempt Citation in My Soup

A local Harriet Miers sighting from Wonkette:

I saw former White House Counsel Harriet Miers at Elephant and Castle (12th and Penn.) at lunch on July 4th. She was having lunch with TX Supreme Court Justice Nathan Hecht and was deeply engrossed in conversation. She was unnoticed and ate quickly and left before I could say anything.

As luck would have it, I read this while Treo surfing at the very same Elephant&Castle. I mentioned this to the waitress who seemed puzzled.

“Harriet Miers is the one who defied the subpoena last week.”
“I know. I’ve just never heard of the wonkette blog before.”

She’s never heard of wonkette? Am I getting that old? Years ago I remember telling a teenager about the Beatles, and the teenager said something like: “Was that Paul McCartney’s old band?” This was the 2007 blog world version of that.

    So one blog year is worth, like, twenty earth years?

    Recently I talked to a young adult about Bruce Springsteen and she could barely contain her contempt for us oldsters. To my shame, I had to tamp down the urge to explain to her that I’m not as OLD as Bruce, I simply love him with all my heart.
