The Blame Central America First Crowd

I’m going to guess you’ve already seen today’s Glenn Greenwald piece on the right’s embrace of Pinochet. If not, go read.

Now, since I was planning to write something on the same topic, I can give you a reasoned guess on how Glenn comes up with his topics. Like me, he goes to the Corner, and just looks for anything with Jonah Goldberg’s byline. As the defender of all things Bush/Reagan, no matter how jaw droppingly bogus his reasoning may be, Jonah is usually a dependable early morning assault on the principles of logic. Today’s drivel, nostalgically yearning for the golden years of Pinochet’s dictatorship, was no exception. Jonah linked approvingly to the Washington Applesauce’s defense of Pinochet and there I was all armed and dangerous. Like the Decider I believe we can fight two wars at the same time: the War on Terrorism, and the War on Stupidity. In which I intend to do my part.

Though, Glenn did all the heavy lifting, so I’ll just add my $.02. Which in a nutshell is: Undermining democratically elected presidents: Bad. Dictatorships: Very bad. Surviving dictatorships: Priceless.
