progressive cyberdadaism from our nation’s capital

Here’s how the transition of power here in DC works. If you’re voted out of office, then yes, you’re part of a lameduck session, but meanwhile you’re expected to clean out your office, as of yesterday. During the lameduck session you get a desk, and a phone. It’s not clear to me that you’re even guaranteed an internet connection. Thank goodness for the Crackberries.
This was brought home to me as I read this post concerning the fate of Katherine Harris:
She’s back in town; must have missed the memo that the Republican Revolution is packing up and leaving town next week. Since all Members who are “not returning” have surrendered their offices today, she must be enjoying one of the numerous cubicles they have set up for her type in a banquet hall in the basement of Rayburn.

Along with many other Members ( and former Members) her portrait still graces the Longworth Starbucks. Everyone else has their stock picture shot in front of the American flag. Ms. Harris’ portrait, however, has her lounging on a leather sofa, looking longly up at the camera. I really want to swipe that souvenir…
This intrigued me, so I took the Metro out to Capitol Hill South, and tried to find the Longworth Starbucks. There certainly are Starbucks in the neighborhood, but about a half-mile away from the Longworth building atop Capitol Hill. I wasn’t able to find the portait mentioned in the Wonkette post, but maybe an enlightened reader can set me straight.
Meanwhile, I wondered if Ms. Harris might be hanging out at the Capitol Hill Club. It’s right across the street from the Metro, and a good place to hang out if you don’t want to answer pesky questions.
Even better, to get in you need to be a powerful Republican. As it turns out, I don’t qualify.
