progressive cyberdadaism from our nation’s capital
A heads up on a provactive piece by Seymour Hersh: (New Yorker)
A government consultant with close ties to the civilian leadership in the Pentagon said that Bush was “absolutely convinced that Iran is going to get the bomb” if it is not stopped. He said that the President believes that he must do “what no Democrat or Republican, if elected in the future, would have the courage to do,” and “that saving Iran is going to be his legacy.”
I’m hoping this is all crazy talk. Like Al Franken at the talk from Wednesday, I hope that cooler heads realize that we’re up to our necks in Iraq right now. Not to mention things like health care, declining wages, Katrina recovery, global warming, the Plame leak scandal, the NSA domestic espionage scandal, and by the way, did I mention Iraq?
I’m not sure who Bush’s advisor for political capitol is, but I hope he tells his boss that he’s overdrawn at the bank.

I don’t know. The New American Century requires a regional war in the Middle East. You don’t that by limiting the chaos to Iraq.

I hear conflicting things about the PNAC folks. Some say the Iraq debacle means that they’ll need to hide out at AEI for a while. Others tell me they don’t think they were that influential to begin with. Still others say that their endgame was Iran and Syria all along, and don’t count them out.
I’m concerned that the imperial hubris of the neocons will play into the narcissism of the Bush inner circle vis-a-vis His need to leave a “legacy.”
